Managers need to support their employees and assist them in a variety of ways. This support can be shown by answering questions, providing additional training or instruction, eliminating roadblocks, and simply by thanking the employees for their persistence and hard work. This support helps the employees develop their skills and increase their knowledge which will enable the employee to work independently. The manager must set goals with their employees to measure their success and performance level. Goals should be set with the input of the employee to ensure that the goals are understood, measurable, and attainable. Goals should be reviewed periodically, adjusted as needed, supported if required, and rewarded through fairly disbursed incentives. These incentives create future drive to attain existing and newly established goals and shows appreciation for the work done.
In this course on Motivating Your Team, you’ll learn how to motivate your employees with both tangible and intangible incentives. You’ll learn how you can support individual employees through Employee Assistance Programs and promote employee growth using goal-setting strategies. As employees achieve goals, incentives should be available to maintain the employee’s level of performance and reward them for the work they have done.
