Course Description

Add even more detail to your three dimensional objects in Blender by learning more about the components that make them up. These lessons start by helping you identify the vertices, edges, and faces which make up 3D objects. We then examine how the number of these segments impact the detail of the object. By selecting each component, you will learn how to manipulate their position, rotation, and size. Next we’ll enter Blender’s Edit Mode, where we’re able to view the vertices, edges, and faces of an object with more detail.

In this module, we take a deep dive into the basic elements of a 3D object and examine how Blender constructs a “mesh” in space. We will take a closer look at the components that make up a 3D object and identify the vertices, edges, and faces that create a mesh in Blender. In Blender’s Edit Mode, we’ll explore detailed tools that allow the creation of unique objects.

What You'll Learn

  • Identify the vertices, edges, and faces that make up a 3D object in Blender
  • Enter and navigate Blender's Edit Mode to view object components in more detail
  • Select and edit the components of a 3D object to manipulate their position, rotation, and size
  • Utilize X-Ray Mode for better selecting in 3D
  • Examine how the number of segments impacts the detail of an object
  • Distinguish between Object Mode and Edit Mode

Key Takeaways

  • 3D objects in Blender are constructed from vertices, edges, and faces that together form a mesh in space.
  • The number of these segments directly impacts the level of detail of a 3D object.
  • Edit Mode lets you view the vertices, edges, and faces of an object with greater detail and use tools to create unique objects.
  • Selecting individual components allows you to manipulate their position, rotation, and size.
  • X-Ray Mode supports better selection of components when working in 3D.
