Hello. In this lesson, I will show you which audio file types can be inserted into PowerPoint and then how to insert audio files. Inserting audio into PowerPoint can enhance your presentation significantly. With audio added to your presentation, you can engage your audience with music, narration, sound effects, all that complement your content. Microsoft PowerPoint 365 web supports a variety of audio file formats that can be inserted into your presentation. Some of the most common audio file formats supported are listed here for you, such as MP3. These file formats are widely used for recording, storing, and playing, back, high quality audio. Additionally, PowerPoint web allows you to embed online audio files from popular streaming services like YouTube. So this gives you a wide range of options for including different types of audio content into your presentations, from background music to voiceovers, sound effects, and more. When adding audio files to your presentation, just remember the file size and compatibility with different devices to ensure that your presentation runs smoothly for all viewers. You can access royalty free music and sound effects by creating a free account at studio.youtube.com. I have this here for you. So I have already created my free account, and I have it open in a separate tab. I'm going to go to the next slide here that we will use to insert some audio files. And I am going to go to my tab that I have open. I've already created this free account and signed into it. And let's take a look. So I'm in studio and I'm going to look on the left hand side here and we're going to go to audio library. I click on audio library and I've got all sorts of different music under this tab, under the music tab that we can use in a presentation. I've got sound effects that we can use in a presentation, kids playing, a truck driving, all sorts of fun, different things, train whistles. And then I have this starred category. I have nothing in here yet, but if I see something that I like, say under music, I can click to add the star and it'll put it under starred for us. It's kind of like saving it. Okay, we have a play button that we can listen to each of these. I'll go ahead and click on one. Okay, so I stopped that. If I liked that music, again, I could start it to add to the starred section, but what I can also do is come all the way over to the right hand side and I can click download. So what we need to do is we need to download this music to our own computer so that we can upload it or insert it into PowerPoint. So let's find a few things that we like. Let's pick a song or under music and then let's pick a sound effect. I'm going to come over to the right hand side of that and I'm going to click download and that is going to download as an MP3 to my computer. And we had said previously that an MP3 is an acceptable file format. Let's go over to sound effects. How about train whistle? Let's listen to that. Okay, I'm going to download the wooden train whistle. I'm going to click download. It's going to download to my computer. So now I can go back to my PowerPoint by clicking on the tab at the top and we can insert these videos now that we just downloaded. Okay, let's go to insert and then we're going to go to audio and we are then going to need to navigate our own computers. I'm going to go to my downloads and I am first going to upload on what we found under music afflutes morning. I'm going to click on that and click open. It takes just a second to upload and then you get this picture of a speaker and that picture can be moved around. When you click on it though, you can see that it's more than just a picture. That is your audio file that you could play here. Okay, so we uploaded the music. Now let's upload or insert the sound effect. Insert audio. And here is it's under my downloads. The wooden train whistle sound effect that I downloaded. I'm going to click on it and click open. And again, you're going to get just this picture of the speaker. But you can see that it's more than just a picture. Let's click play. Okay, so once you have added an audio file to your slide, you can adjust various settings to customize the audio playback and we will explore that in the next lesson. So stay tuned for the next lesson where I will show you how to adjust various settings to customize your audio playback. Thank you for watching.
