Hello, my name is Katie Lehman, and in these lessons you will learn how to integrate Mailchimp with other services. In this lesson, I will show you how to integrate Mailchimp with Facebook Lead Ads. Facebook Lead Ads enable you to collect information from a Facebook Ad so that that contact can be a subscriber to your Mailchimp newsletters or Mailchimp emails. And the nice thing about it is that Facebook will prefill information such as the name, email address, and phone number if it has that contact information already which makes the process even easier for a contact to sign up. And the conversion rates are really high because of that and the cost is low. So it's a nice feature to have connected to Mailchimp. If you want to collect contact details, email addresses, any type of information like that to be added to your database, then Facebook Lead Ads is the way to go. And it is an integration that is set up also using Zapier which I will get into in just a minute. So let's explore Zapier for a moment since this is the program that is used to take the Facebook lead information and send it to Mailchimp. So if you click on integrations, go to discover. Zapier is one of the first essential integration apps that you will use with Mailchimp because it communicates with a lot of different programs, a lot of different outside apps sending and receiving information to send it back and forth between programs. So Zapier, let's take a look at that. They allow you to automatically pass data to and from other web services without writing a single line of code. And they do that through Zaps. Zaps are short and brief ways to describe what type of information you are sending to which app. So looking at all of these different popular Zaps that are already designed, you are able once you set up Zapier to create Mailchimp subscribers from Typeform entries. You can add subscribers from a Google spreadsheet. You can add Google Contacts as new subscribers. You can even add new PayPal customers to Mailchimp and Salesforce contacts. And subscribe new Freshbooks clients to a Mailchimp list. There's even Stripe customers that you can add to Mailchimp. So there's so many different ways to use Zapier and you can even select multi-step Zaps to trigger a number of based on a single event for a powerful automated workflow. And it can span multiple apps. But today we're going to focus just on using it for Facebook Lead Ads. So you would sign up with a Zapier account to begin. 'Cause you need to have a sign up at the Zapier account. You would also need a signup at your Facebook business page account. So if you have a personal Facebook website or a Facebook page, you can add a business page to that page. And that is what you will work off of for designing your Facebook Lead Ads. Now you also have to have a Mailchimp account. So let's go back to Mailchimp. And we're going to actually look at automations next. In the pre-built journeys there are already some Zapier pre-built journeys for you. Now if I scroll down, I'm going to look for the Zapier one. So this one is to add context to journeys using Zapier but we also want to find the Facebook Lead Ad. So this is the one you'd like to use to find and welcome new contacts into a journey once they come in through Zapier after they've completed a Facebook Lead Ad form on Facebook. So let's take a look at this. What you need for this particular pre-built journey is a paid Mailchimp plan, an audience, a custom event in Zapier. So to define a custom event, it can be that Zapier has received a new subscriber email address from Facebook Lead Ads. So you set that up in Zapier as a Zap. And by doing so, then it joins that event in Zapier is how it gets started. And they will receive a simple welcome email in Mailchimp. And by going through this journey, your contacts will be introduced to your products and your services since they are newly signing up through Facebook to receive Mailchimp email marketing messages. And you may see an average of 93% increase in open rates when you use the automations compared to the bulk email. So this is a great strategy to create repeat customers and to thank them for participating in becoming a subscriber. You can also tag them as they come in. So for Zapier and the Facebook Lead Ad, you want to have similar fields that match up as well as in Mailchimp so that all of that data that is communicated across those three platforms is in the correct field and will be able to be viewed in your audience. For instance, if you have a field called email address you want to make sure it is named the same exact way in both Zapier and Mailchimp. And if in Facebook Lead Ads you sign up another field as the first name, another one last name, phone number, just make sure that those fields are all identical both on Zapier as well as in Mailchimp from where they started in Facebook Lead Ads. So creating a new audience group to track new subscribers to Mailchimp is a good idea as well. And you can do that by going to audience, your audience dashboard, manage your audience, manage contacts, and create groups. By creating groups, you're dividing your audience into groups that contacts can opt into for more tailored content. So you can create a group and that way the signup forms that they have from the Facebook Lead Ad that you've designed that goes through Zapier and makes its way over to Mailchimp will put them at a particular group and you know exactly where they're coming from and what their purpose is. So here you have check boxes and people can select more than one to show group options. So here we'd like to identify first the group category. So let's say we've put out a Facebook Lead Ad that said we have new stock and these types of bicycles. So types of bicycles, which ones are they interested in? Beach bikes, road bikes, mountain bikes. Next we add the group. If you add new group, it will actually add another group name. We'll put kid bikes on there too. Then click save. Done. And now these new groups have been added to the audience. If you select import to these groups, they will actually be coming in through Zapier so we're not going to select. Okay, let's say the form that we had on Facebook Lead Ads asked the question of which type of bikes are you interested in, and you can select more than one type. The beach bike people we want the contacts that we're interested in beach bikes to come into this group in Mailchimp once they go through Zapier. So here we're going to import from another service, click continue and select Zapier to add. So, once it is connected and you've connected to Zapier, you'll be able to have those contacts go directly to that group. And that way when you are in Mailchimp you'll be able to manage your groups. If you look at that group you'll be able to manage the group and see how many people have these different interests that come in through the form on Facebook and go through Zapier and end up in Mailchimp. And then you can create customized email marketing messages directly to those groups. Thanks for watching. Stay tuned for the next lesson where I will show you how to use WordPress and Mailchimp for newsletter and form integrations.
