In this lesson, we will review general options in Outlook. My name is Kiwanna and I'll be your instructional guide for this lesson. Outlook allows users to have access to and the ability to manage a few general options or settings to maintain and personalize your account. To access these general options you'll open up your Outlook account, click on the file tab and select options, and you'll select General outta the list of options that are available. Here you'll be able to adjust the settings to help you in customizing your individual Outlook account. In this lesson, we'll walk through each of these options and discuss some settings that you have the ability to adjust or change. User interface options. Here you have the ability to change the default settings if you desire. Couple of options you have here include, you can change the default setting for your multiple displays from optimized for the best appearance to optimize for compatibility. You also have the ability to turn off the mini toolbar. The mini toolbar shows by default and provides you quick access to formatting tools. You also have the ability to turn off the enabled live preview. Enabled live preview gives you the ability to understand what command will be performed when you click on the different buttons that are available within the application. By default, that feature is turned on. You have the ability to turn it off by unchecking the box there, and in the screen tip style you have the ability to turn that feature off or adjust that feature. This gives you the ability to control whether Outlook displays screen tips and feature descriptions with the button names. So you can choose to keep those active according to the default settings, or you can choose to turn those off. The second section under general options is the options where you can personalize your copy of the Microsoft Office account. You can add your username and your initials and those initials and usernames will show when you're looking at the property settings for your Microsoft account. So you can simply type in your name if you desire and enter your initials. You also have the ability to change the office background by selecting from the dropdown list of options and you have the ability to adjust or change the office theme. Currently I'm set at colorful. You can change to dark, gray, black, white whichever you desire. Some additional options or startup options. You can adjust to never reopen previous items or always open previous items if you choose to change the default setting that's currently displayed. And then you have the attachment options. You have the ability to choose files from your OneDrive or SharePoint based on what selections you choose here. By default, it's set at ask me how I want to attach the file every time. You could adjust to share just a link or share or attach a copy by selecting those options if you so choose. The last setting that's available this is something that's new in Microsoft Office accounts. It gives you the ability to connect your Microsoft Office account with your LinkedIn office account. If you do a lot of professional communication through LinkedIn, it gives you the ability to connect those two resources together and be able to create or bring your professional network into your Microsoft Outlook applications that you currently use in your account. The ultimate goal with the general applications, again, is to give you ability to adjust some of the default settings based on your preference and how you interact with the application. And it also gives you the ability to personalize your account to your desired look and feel. Once you make any adjusted changes to your account to apply those, you would click okay. And if you notice here I did select the option to change the background color and once I clicked okay that adjustment was applied to my account. If I desire to adjust that preference could definitely go back to the same location and make a different change or adjustment. So I'm gonna switch to white versus black and if you notice, again, once you click okay whatever adjustments and changes you make in your settings will be applied automatically. Hopefully this gives you some additional options or ways to enhance your interaction with your Outlook account and looking at the settings that you have the ability to change to meet your personalization needs or to meet the way in which you interact with the application. Thanks for watching.
