Welcome to Microsoft Outlook 2021 course for beginners. In this lesson, we will review how to set up an email account in Outlook. To begin, you can access Outlooklive.com. Here, you can create a free Outlook account by clicking on the create free account button the bottom of the screen. If you have purchased an Outlook subscription, you can sign in here to walk through the steps of creating your Outlook account. The sign in button that you would use is here at the top of the screen. You also have the option to go to office.com to complete similar steps. If you have created an account, you can sign in here to be able to set up your Outlook account. Or if you have not purchased an account, you can sign up for a free version of Microsoft 365 and walk through the process of creating and setting up an Outlook account. We will start with creating a free Outlook account. The process will be the same for setting up an account on both of the websites provided. For this lesson, we will use the first site that we discussed, officelive.com to walk through the steps of creating your account. Once the account is created, we will also walk through how you can log into your account online and in the desktop version of Outlook. To create a free account, you click on the free account button here at the bottom of the screen. The first step is to create the email address that you plan to use for your account. You will be prompted to enter the first section of your email by entering in what you desire. The outlook.com extension will be added by default. Once you have the desired email address, you'll click next to continue. Next, you'll be prompted to create a password for your account that you desire to use. If you would like to verify that what you've typed is correct, you can choose the show password option to view your password, or you can click on the eye icon to also view your password to confirm that it is correct. Then you will click Next to continue. Next step would be to enter your name. Click Next to continue. Next, you'll be prompted to enter or select your country or region and your birthdate for your account. Next, you would be prompted to verify that you are creating the account and it's not an automated process. You click Next to continue. And you will review the description provided and select the image that illustrates what the description is displaying. So here it says, "Pick one square that shows two identical objects". Once that process is completed, you'll be prompted to select the option of staying signed in. That gives you the ability to stay signed into your account. If you go to another site or work in another process, it'll keep you signed in. To move forward, you would click Yes to continue. Now the system will complete setting up your account and then you would be logged in to your new Outlook account. And you can begin working from your account moving forward. Once you've created your account, you can log in online by either coming to Outlooklive.com and clicking on the sign in button and signing into your account using the email you've created and the password you created. Or you can go to the office.com account and then click sign in and enter the email address and password that you created. If this is your first time logging into your account, you'll be provided some information that could help you become acclimated to your Outlook account and your Office 365 account. These prompts will walk you through some general information that will help you become familiar. Also walk you through the steps of signing up for a plan or pricing if you're interested in more information. And will walk you through some general tutorial information that help you get acclimated with your Office account. You can click Next to learn about how to navigate through your account and some general information to help you get started. And to access Outlook from office.com, you click on the Outlook icon here to your left to open up your Outlook account. If you're using Outlook for the first time and you do not have the desktop version saved on your computer, you can install the application by clicking the install app now and it will download the desktop version of Outlook and the other Microsoft applications that your subscription gives you the ability to access. You can then be able to access and work in your Outlook account from the desktop version. To access the desktop version and to sign in, you'll go to the start menu on your computer. And either you could go to all apps to view all the apps that are available on your computer, or you can type in Outlook and search for it here. If you've accessed it before, it may appear in your list or you can type Outlook here to be able to pull it up. Once you click on the Outlook button, if it's your first time that you're using Outlook on your account, you'll be asked to enter your email address and password to log in to your account to be able to use the desktop version.
