In this lesson, you will learn about Office 2021 and Microsoft 365. Microsoft Office 2021 is a suite of productivity software that can be installed to a computer. Microsoft 365 is a subscription service that includes access to productivity software, cloud storage and more. Using one versus the other maybe highly dependent on whether you're using the software for personal use, in a family or as part of a business or organization. It's important to note that Microsoft Office 2021 and Microsoft 365 refer to two separate products offered by Microsoft. With Microsoft Office 2021, you will only pay a one time cost. There are no monthly subscription fees that will need to be paid and the software will never expire. Microsoft 365 requires that you pay a monthly access fee or that you pay for a whole year up front. Access to the software is lost if payment, whether monthly or yearly, is stopped. Microsoft Office 2021 will give you access to the 2021 versions of the Office Suite of apps such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Microsoft 365 will give you an always updated version of the Office Suite of apps along with any security updates or bug fixes. PC users also have access to Microsoft Access and Microsoft Publisher. In regards to the forementioned security updates and bug fixes, Microsoft Office 2021 includes these but new features will not be added nor any upgrades to future software versions. You'll need to make a full purchase to upgrade to another major version of Microsoft Office. Microsoft 365 on the other hand stays constantly updated even if there are new major upgrades. Microsoft Office 2021 can be installed one time to either a PC or Mac. Microsoft 365 can be installed to multiple devices including desktops, laptops and mobile devices if you are subscribed to a plan such as Microsoft 365 Family Microsoft Office 2021 has mobile apps that can be downloaded and used for free with basic functionality. Microsoft 365 also has mobile apps with enhanced functionality if you sign in with your paid Microsoft 365 account. There is no online storage included with Microsoft Office 2021. A Microsoft 365 subscription has one terabyte of OneDrive cloud storage. If you have a Microsoft 365 Family subscription plan, up to six users have access to one terabyte OneDrive cloud storage each. Microsoft Office 2021 includes 60 days of support at no extra cost. Microsoft 365 includes support for the lifetime of your subscription at no extra cost. Thanks for watching.
