In this video, we'll review smart narratives. Let's get started. The smart narrative visualization helps you quickly summarize visuals and reports by providing insights that are customizable. Since this feature is in preview, you'll need to first turn on the feature by navigating to file, options and settings, options, preview features, and under the smart narrative visual, just ensure that that checkmark box is checked. And then, click okay. We can activate smart narratives by right-clicking on a visual and selecting summarize. And what will pop up, is a text box that provides a summary of that particular visualization. Showing that, total sales in 2020 was the highest and accounted for 49% of our total sales. If we click with inside the text box, you can see here that we can add values in here such as new text. We can also add dynamic values by navigating to the toolbar to the left and clicking on value. Here, we can add a question about our data. So say for example, we want sales amount minus total product cost. That will get us our revenue and we'll click on save. We can additionally format the data here within the box or within the text box and click on save. And it will provide a dynamic value that will be refreshed anytime the report is refreshed. And, we can also format the text within this box, using the toolbar to select a particular font, font size, color, as well as bolding, italics, or underline formatting. You can provide a smart narrative to all of the visuals on the page rather than just one visual. And, we can do that by navigating to the visualizations pane and in the visualizations pane, selecting the smart narrative. Which, will provide us a summary based off of all of the visualizations that are on this page. The text is dynamic when we cross filters. So for example, if we select home audio theater, or we select TV and video, you can see that our texts within the smart narrative is updated. So, let's select here another value, and, we're getting data updated within this smart narrative visualization. Smart narratives are a great way to dynamically add text to support the visualizations that are on the page and provide a conversation about the data. This concludes our session on smart narratives.
