(gentle music) Let's go over actually implementing digital transformation at your company. In these lessons, we'll examine following metrics, fostering a supportive culture, and developing core competencies. Implementing digital transformation happens once you've fully planned and strategized and you're ready to deploy your new technology, leverage your new organizational skills and debut your new digitally-transformed organization. This part of the process comes after careful strategic planning and performing inventory. It also involves analysis of leadership and other skills your organization currently has and needs to add through training or hiring, and securing the appropriate technology to fuel your transformation. The most important thing you can do in this phase is to carefully implement your plan, so that things go the way you prepared for. This means frequently revisiting your strategic plan and its action items, comparing the planned results with the actual results and adjusting to get on track along the way. To do this, you implement the plan and follow good metrics. What does that mean for you as the leader? First, it means you are the one responsible for making sure the strategic plan you prepared is being implemented. The plan serves as your blueprint for transformation and it's based on the input and feedback you received from all the stakeholders in your organization. The plan is the glue that holds the team together because it's a contract you form with your team. It states what each person will do, what skills they will use or gain and how success will be measured. The plan itself needs good metrics, so you know how you'll measure success. When you craft a specific part of the plan, ask yourself two things. First, what will happen if this part of the plan isn't implemented? Second, what will happen if this part of the plan is implemented? Next, it's best to decide how you'll measure whether each part of the plan has been successfully implemented or not. This is where research comes into play. During the planning stage, if you find the right metrics to use to determine your level of success, you'll be ahead of the game during implementation. You can have weekly meetings where you compare your expected results to your actual ones and you'll be well informed about what might need to be adjusted or changed so that things go closer to the way you plan them, instead of slipping off the grid and drifting away from the plan. The bottom line is that the more disciplined you are about staying true to the plan and measuring results constantly, the more likely your digital transformation will be as successful as you plan for it to be.
