Course Description

Blender’s features allow users to recreate realistic objects and environments using a robust set of tools and calculations. With various types of lighting, the shading and texturing workflow produce lifelike objects with very little effort. Entire scenes can be created by assembling specific object modifiers, 3D characters can be created using simple modeling techniques, and real-world physics can be simulated by modifying the values of default objects.

In this Blender Intermediate course, you’ll learn how to apply shading and texturing to objects in order to produce different appearances. You will experiment with the most commonly used shading and texturing parameters and utilize Blender’s nodes to “plug” values onto 3D objects. You’ll also learn about Blender’s object modifiers, including geometry nodes. These modifiers are able to affect the geometry of an object in a nondestructive manner, simply by giving it the appearance of being modified.

Next, you’ll learn the workflow behind 3D character modeling, starting with a low-polygon model. Then you’ll move onto a more detailed character of a baby alien creature. We’ll show you how to use the process of rigging to construct the alien’s “skeleton” with armature and bones. Then you’ll prepare the alien for animation with the help of Blender’s native rigging feature.

Finally, you’ll discover Blender’s physics engine and explore many effects Blender provides to create realistic physics. You’ll simulate cloth and fluid, followed by rain and smoke using an emitter.
