EEO: Best Practices Welcome to KnowledgeCity's course, "EEO: Best Practices." Equal Employment Opportunity helps to create more diverse workplaces. The more diverse a workplace is, the better the company will perform. McKinsey and Company found organizations that were in the top quartile for gender diversity on their executive team were 21% more profitable than other organizations. The same study found organizations in the top quartile for ethnic and cultural diversity were 33% more profitable. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission created a Task Force to look at some of the best practices of organizations who are EEO compliant. The Task Force found that companies leading the way in EEO were following what the commission calls "A SPLENDID approach." SPLENDID stands for: Study— you can't solve problems if you don't know they exist. Plan— determine how your organization will become EEO compliant. Lead— management should be leading the organization towards EEO compliance through their actions. Encourage— every employee should be encouraged to act properly and be held accountable for their actions. Notice— be aware of the impact your actions have. Discussion— communicate the plan and why it's important to the organization's success. Inclusion— make sure everyone is involved. And, Dedication— don't give up because there are some issues in the beginning. The Task Force identified several best practices leading organizations are using. Let's take a look at some you can implement in your organization.
