Welcome to KnowledgeCity's course "EEO: Laws and Regulations." Discrimination in employment is illegal in the United States. There are several laws we are going to explore that aim to prevent discrimination and help create equal employment opportunity. These laws make it illegal to discriminate in any aspect of employment, which can include but are not limited to hiring and firing, compensation, promotion, recruitment, and benefits. Despite these laws, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission still receives more than 75,000 complaints of discrimination each year. In addition to the specific protections provided, each law we're going to discuss also prohibits retaliation against anyone who exercises their rights or assists other people in exercising their rights.
