In this lesson, you will learn about using the Page Setup Ribbon. Microsoft Word 2021 allows for creating pages and layouts that can be customized to your exact specifications. We can do that using the Layout Ribbon. Here, we have a blank document. Let's take a look at the options available to us. First, I'll click on Layout. Now we see we have Text Direction, Margins, Orientation, Size, Columns, Breaks, Line Numbers, and Hyphenation. Let's take a look at these. First, let's take a look at Text Direction. The default option for Text Direction is horizontal. We also have Vertical, Rotate all text 90 degrees, Rotate all text to 170 degrees, Rotate Asian characters 270 degrees, and we also have Text Direction Options. Next, we can change the margins of this page. The margins are the spaces that appear around the pages and they are bordered by these lines. Under Margins, we have Normal, which is our default option. Narrow, Moderate, Wide, Mirrored, or Office 2003 Default. Also, we have Last Custom Setting. And in relation to that, we can set custom margins. Next, we have page orientation. Our default page orientation is Portrait. We can also change this to Landscape. Next, we have Size. This refers to paper size. The default selection for a document is letter size. We can also choose A4, Legal, Envelope number 10, eight and a half by 10 inches, five by seven inches, four by six inches, 3.5 by five inches, A6, 4.1 by 5.8 inches, Half Letter, 11 by 17 inches, A3, Super B, and 17 by 22 inches. If you don't see the paper size that you're looking for, you can click on More Paper Size to specify a custom paper size. Next, we have Columns. The default number of columns in a document is one. We can also choose Two, Three, left column, right column or More Columns. I'm going to set two columns. I'll demonstrate that here. As we can see, the text has spilled over into the second column. Next, we have Breaks. First is page breaks. We have Page, Column and Text Wrapping. Next, we have Section Breaks. We have Next Page, Continuous, Even Page and Odd Page. Next, we have Line Numbers. You can also choose Restart Each Page, Restart Each Section, Suppress for Current Paragraph and Line Numbering Options. And finally, we have Hyphenation. You can choose None, which is the default setting, Automatic, Manual and Hyphenation Options.
