In this lesson, we will explore the tools tab of Adobe Acrobat and look at different ways to access tools. So we're going to first take a look at the tool tab. To access the tool tab, you're going to navigate to the tools which is listed just right of the home tab on the upper left-hand side. We will go ahead and click on the tools tab now. When we click on the tools tab, you will notice that we get this scroll down menu of all the tools that are located in Adobe Acrobat. We can scroll all the way down to the bottom and view the different sections that it has. For example, the tools are separated into major categories. The first category is create and edit. The second category is forms and signatures. The third category is share and review. The fourth is protect and standardize. And the fifth is customize. These different categories indicate what tools refer to what sections of editing in this application. Now another unique aspect of this tools tab is when you use your mouse and you hover over a specific tool, you will notice that more information about that tool is displayed. For example, for this combine files option, you will notice that the dropout menu that proceeds with the mouse, lists combines multiple files into a single PDF. This additional information just provides you with more information about what this tool specifically does in this application. Let's explore another one. If we go down to forms and signatures and we hover over Adobe sign, you will notice that we get more info listing, get documents signed electronically, and track results. So this gives us a little bit more information than Adobe sign, right? So this option is really, really helpful if you're exploring new tools and you're not quite sure what they do, you don't have to click on them right away. Instead, you can hover to gain more information about that specific tool, to see if it's what you're looking for. So now that we've navigated to the tools tab, and we've looked at the different categories of the tools, you will notice that my page has a list on the right hand side of tools. And then it has the main tool page, on the left-hand side. You will also notice that only some of the tools that are located on the left-hand side are listed on this list on the right hand side. This is because Adobe Acrobat gives you the ability to customize your own toolbar, to use the tools that you most commonly use instead of going to this page and accessing all of them and trying to find the tool that you're looking for, you can create your own customized toolbar. The list on the right is my current toolbar. I can add and subtract tools to my list at any point in time. For example, when we scroll down on this tool page, you will notice that we have some tools that have open underneath, and then we've got other tools that have add underneath. For example, export PDF currently says open, whereas scan currently has add. What this means is that if the add option is showing up with the add word underneath it, it means that it's currently not on my toolbar. This does not mean that I cannot use it, but this means that I should add it to my tool bar in order to have easier access, to access this tool within this application. To add and subtract tools, what we simply do is we click on the dropdown menu that is located right next to the word, either add or open. When we click on the dropdown menu, which is on the right hand side, you will notice that we have the option to open, remove shortcut and learn more. If we click on the learn more option, it provides us with more information about this tool, through the web, with a specific Adobe Acrobat page. If we click open, it allows us to open this tool and use it. If we click remove shortcut, that means that it simply we remove it from our list. What our toolbar does is it provides us with a shortcut of all of our tools where we can access, if we're working on a PDF at one point in time, we can access our tools without going into this tool section. To remove the shortcut, we will simply click remove shortcut. And you will notice that it has disappeared from my list on the right hand side and the word open change to add. Now let's go ahead and click this drop down menu one more time. And you will see that we have the open option. We have the add shortcut, and we have the learn more option. As I mentioned before, you can use these tools if they're not on your toolbar, but by creating a shortcut, it automatically puts them into a specific location of easy access while you were working on documents or PDFs within this application. Now there's another way to add and to reduce the amount of tools that you have on your toolbar. When I hover with my mouse on the far right-hand side of my list, you'll notice that the box is highlighted around that specific tool, and there's an X located on the far right hand side. It also, again, gives me the information by hovering over that tool, it gives me more information about that specific tool and what it does. Now to remove a tool from my list, I can go through the add and open process that we just reviewed, or I can simply use the X option, which is located on the far right-hand side, once you hover over a tool on your toolbar. I can go out and click on the X and you will notice that it has disappeared from my list of tools. This is how you add and subtract tools from your toolbar in Adobe Acrobat.
