Hello. In this Microsoft Visio course, we want to explore how to add a thing called a callout to our shapes. Now callouts are basically a label or a shape that describes a shape that's already in one of your Visio diagrams. First of all, the callout button is located on the insert ribbon tab. You'll see that it's in a group called diagram parts. Now to apply a callout to a current shape, you select the shape. We can again see the sizing rectangle around the shape. Then you come up to the diagram parts group and select the callout button. There are different styles of callouts that you can apply. The simplest one is the very first one in the top left corner of the gallery. We're going to select that one. We'll see a small line with the text box and notice that the text box is now selected. I can go ahead here and type in what I want the callout to be that is referring to the shape. When I click away from it, I'll see that the callout stays and, again, it's helping to clarify what this particular shape is trying to show me. Now a few interesting things to know about shapes and their callouts. When you move a shape, the callout follows. So the shape stays with the callout and vice versa. Also, you can move where the callout is in reference to the shape. So I can take this callout right here and actually drag it around to different sides of my shape, but whenever I move that shape, I'll see that the callout follows and goes with it. And sometimes you might need to adjust the placement of your callout just so it's a little bit easier to see it in conjunction to your shape. Thanks so much for watching. In the next lesson, we're gonna look at how to update the style of our callout. Stay tuned.
