In this lesson titled: Creating Events, I will show you the steps to create an event using Google Calendar. Now, there are several ways to create an event. You can click the plus sign. You can click this and then click the plus sign with Create. You can also single click on a specific date on the calendar. If you double click on the date, the More options automatically appears. So let's double click, and it automatically comes to this screen. Another thing you can do is press C on your keyboard. That's a keyboard shortcut. You can also type in the address bar, cal.new. So as you can see, there are several ways to create a new event. When you create a new event, you can click and drag from multiple dates. Then you just click Save. You can also move it around your calendar after you create it. If you're on the daily calendar, you can click and drag for multiple hours. Type a title and click Save. You can also modify the time by just clicking and dragging on your calendar. Now, when you create a new event, there are several settings. So the first thing you do when you click or double click, you add a title. So you can change the date here if you need to. You can select a specific time or you can select All day. There are also several options with repeating. So you can repeat it every day. You can repeat it weekly, monthly, annually, like a birthday or something. You can also do a custom repeat. With a custom repeat, you can click repeat every how many weeks or you can change this to days or months. You can select the days you want to have it repeat on. You can have it end on that exact date, which is really nice. And you can also click how many occurrences you want to end on. So we'll have it repeat every Wednesday, and we'll have it end on November 24th. Then you just click Done. Now you can add a Google Meet video conferencing to it. You can also find a time. You can add a location. You can add a notification. You can have it notify you several different ways to make sure you don't forget something. You can do it one day in advance, a week in advance. You can also have an email notification, so you can add several different notifications to remind you. You can also change the color of the event and you can make it free or busy. You can change the default visibility to public or private. You can also add a description. You can add an attachment and a link. And you can also change it, bold, italics or underline. And you have some other settings here. Over here, you can add guests and you can give permissions for your guests. Okay. Let's click Save. And there's our consultant meeting. And if we scroll to the different dates, we can see that it did end on November 24th. There are other ways to add events to your calendar. If you click on Tasks, and you just click Add a task and you just type a title. Then you click details if you want to, and you can add your calendar appointment right here. So let's put it for November 8th. We can also set a time right here and we can repeat if we want to and let's click OK. And that popped up right here. 10:00 AM Faculty Meeting. Another way you can create events is using your Gmail. Gmail events can be set up to automatically be added to your calendar. Now only you can see the events that are automatically added, even if you've shared your calendar with someone. So to set this up, you just go to the gear icon in the Settings menu. Click Settings, then you click Events from Gmail. Then you just click the checkbox to "Show events automatically created by Gmail in my calendar." You can click the dropdown arrow to change it to Calendar default, Private or Only me. There are many ways to create events in Google Calendar. In the next lesson, I will provide the steps on how to create and change notifications using Google Calendar.
