Welcome to KnowledgeCity's online training for Code of Conduct. Civilized society began creating codes as early as 2100 BCE in what we know today as the Middle East. Codes were developed to write down rules and laws in a systematic fashion. During the Middle Ages, in England, codes evolved into common or civil law systems. Codified rules and codes are still an important part of our legal system. An example of this is the Uniform Commercial Code, which was developed in the early 1940s to unify laws about sales and other commercial transactions. The first acknowledged corporate code of conduct in ethics was the Johnson and Johnson Credo, which was published in 1943, notably during World War II. The Johnson and Johnson CEO saw it as a step in encouraging his peers on other companies to embrace corporate responsibility. In this course, we will be discussing a code of conduct, an important document for you to have for your business.
