Hi. My name is Will Tinney and in this lesson we'll discuss some general resources for help provided by SolidWorks or linked to SolidWorks. So first things first, to understand SolidWorks, you'll first need to be aware of Dassault Systemes. The website is here above, 3DS.com. Think of Dassault Systemes or DS as an umbrella company that produces many types of CAD software. SolidWorks is just one of them. Here are some others. Another widely used program, accessed from DS is CATIA. For anyone going into a type of engineering field that is highly specialized and complex will likely use a program like this. It can be what an expert of SolidWorks may likely graduate to if they wanted to advance their career. Some examples of fields that use this software are aerospace engineering or bioengineering. Now this particular site can guide you to a larger CAD world that includes SolidWorks as a small part of it. They have ongoing blogs, articles, examples of expert projects, et cetera. As a new SolidWorks user, you'll likely gain access to DS through a provided account that you'll be set up with. From there, you can keep your finger on the pulse of all things CAD related. Next up is MySolidWorks. The URL is my.solidworks.com. Up here in the dropdown menus, you'll see free CAD models that you can download for personal use, training pathways including steps to take to prepare for certification exams, forums where you can find frequently asked questions, and there are a lot of them, general support and trial packages. Your personal account with SolidWorks will likely involve access to this site on a regular basis. Don't be afraid to use a search bar up here at the top. I find that very helpful. Finally, we have Hawk Ridge Systems, which is an online CAD and engineering support platform. Their URL is hawkridge.com. If you're a user in SolidWorks and hold an actual seat, you'll likely be prompted to create an account on Hawk Ridge Systems if you haven't already. This is a company I use constantly because their customer service is impeccable. They've helped me with all kinds of issues and questions with SolidWorks on a one-on-one email basis. Support often includes phone calls or even video calls which are especially helpful. Like MySolidWorks, they also offered continued training and CAD library resources. They are connected directly with 3D printer manufacturers such as MarkForged, and if you are on the market for a machine, definitely check out what they recommend. Thanks for listening. In these lessons you learn about resources available to continuing growing your knowledge and involvement in SolidWorks. As a SolidWorks seat holder (a certified user of the program), you have inherent access to a number of different knowledge resources, technical support channels, 3D files, new downloads, and overall opportunities to utilize the program to its full extent. You will learn how to connect with your SolidWorks representative as well as where to look when troubleshooting issues on your own. You’ll also be introduced to a large 3D community where knowledge and 3D files are freely shared. This can be especially useful in expanding your knowledge of 3D programs beyond what’s in front of you.

Finally, you will learn about the SolidWorks certification examination library, including what it is; how to access it; and how to participate. We’ll go over some helpful tips and tricks to prepare for—and ultimately pass—these exams to showcase your knowledge and gain useful exposure to parts of the program you may not have known were there. With the knowledge you will have gained in this course, as well as the Beginner and Intermediate SolidWorks courses—and with a bit of review and practice—you should be ready to take and pass the following certification examinations: CSWP Mechanical Design; CSWPA Sheet Metal; CSWPA Weldments; CSWPA Drawing Tools; and CSWPA Surfacing. These will set you up to be eligible to take the CSWPE Mechanical Design, Expert Level certification.
