Hello, my name is Darren Mullen. And in these lessons, you will learn about integrations between Smartsheet and Google, Microsoft, and AppSheet. Smartsheet's website contains an overview of the Google solutions that integrate with Smartsheet. I'm going to give a brief overview of each one, and then I'll show a couple examples. The Gmail add-on allows you to add rows into a Smartsheet from an email within your Gmail inbox. You can also take attachments from an email in your Gmail inbox and attach them to a row in Smartsheet. The Google Docs integration lets you merge data from a Smartsheet into a Google document. This can be useful for creating invoices or other documents that you want to pull data from the Smartsheet and include into your Google document. In general, G Suite or Google Suite integrates with Smartsheet with these apps shown on the screen, as well as the ability to sign into Smartsheet with your Google account. The Google Forms integration allows you to create a Google Form and send the responses into Smartsheet. The Google Calendar integration allows you to overlay your Google Calendar onto the calendar and Smartsheet. You can publish dates from your Smartsheet plans into your Google Calendar. And this allows you to keep those calendars and project plans updated and in sync. The Google Drive integration allows you to attach files from your Google Drive into a Smartsheet row or onto a Smartsheet as an attachment. And the Hangouts Chat integration can be used to receive notifications from a Smartsheet into Hangouts. And these notifications will then have a link that the recipient can click to view those changes or notifications in the Smartsheet itself. I'm going to show how the Google Drive integration works. And to do this, I'm going to choose to attach a file to this row in the sample. So I choose attach files, and I have the option to use Google Drive. If I'm not signed into my Google account in this browser. I'll be asked to sign in first. You will need to allow access between Smartsheet and Google, and then you're able to attach an item. I wanna note real quick that the document isn't actually attached into Smartsheet. It places a link in the Smartsheet attachments window to this document on Google Drive. So it's important that you have the file in Google Drive shared appropriately so that other users can see it. Next, I'll show how to install the Smartsheet add-on for Gmail. In order to do this, You can navigate to the Google Workspace Marketplace. You'll find the Smartsheet for Gmail add-on. You can install that. And just like the Google Drive integration, you'll need to allow access between Smartsheet and Gmail. And you'll likely receive a Google alert that the integration was installed. Go ahead and send myself an email. Now that the add-on is installed, When choosing an email in the inbox, you'll see on the right side here in this toolbar, there is the Smartsheet icon here. And then you'll have the ability to search for the sheet that you want to add this row to. Now going to the integration sheet, here in Smartsheet, you see that the information from that email was added into this row. Next, I want to show how to install the Smartsheet add-on onto a Google document. I have a demo Google document opened up here. In order to install the extension, Go to the extensions menu, add-ons, get add-ons. Search for the Smartsheet for Google Docs add-on. It gives you a little overview about what you can do with this add-on. The first example is an invoice, and you can see that when you have an invoice template, for example,

Smartsheet is a full-featured project management tool, but it is rarely, if ever, used in isolation. While Smartsheet is focused on project management features, data affecting projects is commonly generated outside of the Smartsheet environment. Therefore, this data must enter the Smartsheet environment somehow. Manual entry from another tool to Smartsheet can be workable, but direct entry from, say, your email inbox to Smartsheet reduces errors and ensures data is entered into Smartsheet in a timely manner.

Furthermore, organizations and teams have other communication tools, such as instant messaging programs, already intertwined into everyday use. Adding another tool to communicate in will meet resistance, so integrations with commonly-used programs are offered to help integrate Smartsheet more smoothly into existing processes.
