In this lesson, you will learn about managing sites in Dreamweaver. The first thing that we're going to do is go up to the sites menu to manage sites. From the manage sites window, you can choose to add or edit any sites that you have. I'm going to click on the new site menu. And the first thing that we can do when creating a site is to create a site from an empty folder. So I'm just going to call this, and I'm gonna click on this folder. I'm gonna navigate out to my desktop because that's where I have the Module 1 Lesson Files folder. And I'm just going to select this folder, the New_web_site folder, and we're gonna click on the save button. So that adds a link to a folder, and that folder is an empty folder. If we click on the done button, we can see over in our files panel, it says site, My New Site, but there are no files in this folder. So we're gonna go back to the site menu, back to manage sites. And this time we're gonna click on the new site menu again. And we're gonna call this "Module 1 Lesson." And we're gonna click back on that folder. And now this time we're gonna choose the Module 1 folder from the lesson files folder. And we're gonna click on that select folder. We're also going to go to the advanced settings because in this folder we do have an images folder. So we're gonna go into the local info. And we're gonna click on this folder icon up at the top. And we're gonna select that images folder for our default images folder for our site. And we're gonna click save. So now we have two sites listed in our manage sites area. If we click on the done button, we can see that our Module 1 Lessons are selected over in our files panel. And we can see all of the lesson files that are part of that folder. This is the great thing about Dreamweaver. We can click on that dropdown at the top of our files panel and we can choose our My New Site folder. So we can very easily go through our sites in our files panel. With this folder, it had nothing in it, but if we go to the file menu and we create a new document, we're just gonna create an HTML file with a framework of none. And we're gonna click on the create button. And we're gonna do a file save on this. And we're just gonna call this index.html. We're gonna make sure that it's saving it into our New_web_site folder. We're gonna click on the Save button. and you can see that we have added that file to that folder. And if we close that out, we can again go back to that Module 1 Lesson, and we can look at all of the files that we have here. And then when we go back to that My New Site, there's our index file in that my new site folder. And we can have multiple files from different sites open at any given time. So if we double click on that index, it will open that up. And then if we switch over to our Module 1 Lesson we can double click on that index file as well. And you can see I clicked on that live button up at the top, and I can see our whole page, and I can switch and go back and forth between the two even though they are in different sites. Now I'm gonna close out of both of these. I'm gonna minimize Dreamweaver for a minute. If we go to our Module 1 folder, and we go into our lesson files, and we take that new website folder and we're gonna move that to our desktop. So we're gonna just move that folder out. And if we go back into Dreamweaver, and we go into our site menu to manage sites, one of the things that you will notice is the My New Site is still here, but if we click on this done button, we are going to get a message. The local route folder new website does not exist. Please select a new local root folder. So Dreamweaver recognizes when our folders have either been deleted or moved. So if we click on that manage sites button and manage sites again, our managed sites dialogue box comes up, and we can click on the pencil icon down here at the bottom. And what this allows us to do is it allows us to go out, and we're gonna change the location. Go back to our desktop, click on new website, select that folder and save. So when we do that the cache will now be recreated, and we're gonna click okay. And we're gonna click done. So our new site over in our files panel has the new location. So you have control through the site menu and the managed site's sub menu to add sites, to modify sites, and to switch the folders of your sites. So in this lesson you learned about managing sites in Dreamweaver.
