Hello. In this particular lesson, I'm going to demonstrate to you creating groups. Now, before we get started, I'd like for you to make sure you have opened up the groups drawing as I have shown here on my screen. And once you get that open, let's go ahead and follow along. Now, you would typically, in AutoCAD, create at a group for objects that are related in some way that you'll later use in some modifying method or some editing action. Think of it as a saved selection set. So for example, if I wanted to create a group of these sinks in the drawing that I have here on my screen, we're gonna do it from going over to the Home tab on the ribbon all the way over here to the right. There is the Groups panel. I'm gonna click on Group to create a group. And now it's asking me at the command line to select objects, or I can give it a name or a description. I'm gonna hit N for name, press Enter. And I'm gonna go ahead and give my group a name. I'm gonna call it, sinks. Press enter. Now it's asking me again to select my objects name or description. I'm gonna go ahead and select this sink up here. And I'm gonna select this sink down here. And once I press enter, my group has been created. Going back up here to the ribbon, I have the group selection turned on, cause this is blue. So if I hover over this sink, notice that both sinks are now highlighted. If I select one, both of them are selected. My quick properties, tell me I have a group selected. I'm gonna hit the escape key. Come over here to groups, hit the dropdown, go to group manager. And here we can see some more information about the group that we just created. My group is selectable. I can give it a description if I'd like to. If I don't know where this group is in my drawing and I wanna highlight it, I can have it selected and hit highlight. And there it is right there. Hit continue. If I didn't name the group when I was creating it then it will be given some random name. And that's what this check box for include unnamed is. When I'm done with the group and no longer need it I can explode the group. I'm going to hit okay here. And now just remember, think of groups as a saved selection set. So if I wanted to change the properties of this group I can select it, change the layer from layer zero now, and notice how the color is changing based on the layer. And I'm gonna change it to a bathroom fixture. Hit escape. Thanks for watching this lesson. Join me in the next lesson where we will explore creating blocks.
