When Microsoft Outlook opens, until you've made some customized changes to the product, initially the screen shows you what is called Outlook Today. Outlook Today is divided into several different sections. On the right-hand side, there is a summary of your calendar appointments, your tasks, and your messages. Since we've just opened this, there's nothing pending in our calendar, or our tasks, or our messages. On the left-hand side, this panel shows us our favorite folders, as well as our mail folders, and it allows us to go down and select at the bottom the mail, the calendar, our contacts, or the tasks. As you'll see a little bit later, you can customize the screen and the application so that it will open in the window that you most frequently use or prefer to see when you launch Outlook on your computer. Maybe, for example, you would immediately like to go to the mail, or you would like to first go to your calendar, or you would like to go to your contacts list or to your task list. So we'll see a little bit later how to customize the way Outlook opens for you on your computer.
