In this lesson, I will show you how to create a sequence in Adobe Premiere. Another name for a sequence is Timeline. You'll also learn some key settings to keep in mind. Let's get started. There are a few ways to create a new sequence in Adobe Premiere. One way that you can do that is to right click in the Project panel and go to New Item and then select Sequence. Alternatively, you can also go to File, New, and Sequence. And if you've mastered your keyboard shortcuts, then you can hit Command in. As you noticed, using each of these different types brings up this dialog box for you to customize your settings. Adobe Premiere has many different presets that are already preloaded into Adobe Premiere. You'll want to find a preset that most closely aligns with the media that you're bringing in. A common one that you would want to select is Digital SLR or DSLR. That is for your typical cameras where you're bringing in media. You might have shot from there. You'll find that if there's another selection here that more closely aligns with how your media is shot, then you'll want to go with that one as well. And one of the things about the presets is that they give you a description of each one so you can go in and see which preset would work for you. Now, another way you could do this is go over to Settings. Now you'll see Editing Mode. This gives you all of the different presets that you were presented on the last tab. You can also customize and find the settings that most works for you. So we are based on the RA settings before, so those will be here, but as you customize a little bit more to your liking, then you'll find that you're able to really bring the most out of the media that you are bringing in. Another key component that you'll want to consider is your frame size. So by default here, it is 16 by 9 in dimensions. It's 1920 by 1080. That's your typical HD frame size. But if you're working, say, in social and you want to have it something that's more of a one-to-one or a square, then you would change your frame size so that it matches equally. So we'll change this 1920 to 1080. And now you have the one-to-one or square pixels. But we'll bring this back to 1920 for the sake of this tutorial. Some other settings that you'll want to be mindful of are your audio sample rate and display format. So you can do it in milliseconds or as your audio sample. You can also change your sample rate from 32,000 all the way to 96,000 Hz. In video previews, you can customize how you want to preview your video, just depending on your computer settings. So we will change this one to ProRes 4444. And you'll notice that this stays at 1920 by 1080. One thing to note here is that this icon here says that if you change one of these numbers, then it will keep the same ratio as what you have before. So if you change this to 1080, then you'll notice that bottom number changes to keep it in the 16 by 9 ratio. And then if you change it back, then it goes back to that 1080. Maximum bit depth and maximum render quality. That just really depends on how you want to engage with your media as it exports out, but also as you're watching it there. Once you are happy with your settings, then you'll want to give it a name. One other thing you can do before you hit OK, you can go and select how many tracks you want to bring in. So that's four audio tracks and three video tracks for this one. And also if you are customizing, then you can save your preset there. And now you can give it a description and hit OK. And you'll notice that by saving the preset, it's now an option under custom. So once you're happy with everything that you have set with your sequence, then you'd hit OK. And now you'll see your timeline or your sequence is here. Now you can drag in media and get started on your editing journey. Congratulations!
