In this lesson, I will give you a better understanding of multi-cam editing and its benefits in Adobe Premiere Pro. Multi-cam editing is a powerful technique that allows you to edit footage from multiple cameras or sources simultaneously. Let's get started. The first benefit of multi-cam editing is time efficiency. Multi-cam editing helps you save time by letting you edit footage from different angles. So if we have this timeline open here, then you can see that if you have multiple clips, then you're able to save time by cutting between them by simply using the keyboard with the corresponding camera that is there. So all I'm doing is hitting the one and the two key, and you can see that it is switching between sources there. So rather than having to make each edit each time, all you'd have to do is hit the keyboard number, correspond it with the camera, and then you're saving time that way. Another one is that you can improve your coverage. So during events, multi-cam setups capture different viewpoints simultaneously, ensuring you don't miss any crucial moments. So knowing that you have this option in Adobe Premiere Pro allows you to save time by knowing that you can always go back in and change the angle. So if you are doing a live switch during your broadcast, but you know that it's going to be taped, then you could simply go in and redo the edits in a real-time way, much like you did with your broadcast. Now, some places where you might want to use this, and I think you might have seen some of them as we were going through. So it could be something as simple as an interview, and you know that you're going to be cutting in between cameras. Multi-cam editing works best with two or more cameras. Obviously one camera is not going to do you any good, but if you have a multitude of cameras, then this is going to be something that you would want to use. So you could use it for a wedding. So if you are doing some of the pre-event or even during the ceremony or at the reception and you want to make sure that you have multiple coverage to make it seem bigger and more poignant than it is, then this is something that could help you with, again, without having to make the edits as you go. But you are without having to make the edits individual with the razor tool, then by doing this, then you're making your cuts as you go, simply by using the keyboard to the corresponding camera, and you're able to save a lot of time there. So we talked about weddings. We talked about interviews. One other one that could be handy to you is if it's a concert. So let's say you have a bunch of different angles, again, that you are trying to put together. Now this could be something where you're the recorder of it, or you could be taking multiple cameras from what people upload and you're doing like a tribute to the band that you really like. Well, this is another way of doing it in a fast way that you could go. And then another one is sporting events. So if you are collecting multiple angles or if you're broadcasting a game and you want to go back in and redo some of your cuts, then this is a great way to do it. And you would be able to synchronize everything in one place rather than finding, setting it in and out and going from there or even doing the synchronized method, just on a regular timeline. This really does save you a lot of time going from one angle to the other, and it has everything all in one place for you. Another one that you could do is documentaries. So if you are doing a documentary and you have multiple angles of whether it's capturing some b-roll or if it's even capturing the interviews and you have multiple cameras and you just want to be able to move around, you can use this multi-cam editing to make your edits seamless.
