Hello. In this lesson, we're gonna start off with creating sheet sets. As you can see here on my screen, I am in AutoCAD LT 2022. Yes, that means that you can use AutoCAD LT or the full version of AutoCAD to run this lesson. So once you have your application open to either LT or the full version of AutoCAD, I'd like for you to follow along. Now, you might be asking yourself, what is a sheet set? Well, in AutoCAD, a sheet set is pretty much AutoCAD's way of being a document management system for your drawings. And particularly, your drawings with sheets or layouts in them. And your sheet sets in AutoCAD, is managed by your sheet set manager. And there are a couple of different ways to access the sheet set manager. Right now, let's go ahead and go into a brand new blank drawing. So I'm just gonna click on New, to create a brand new drawing. So once I'm in a brand new blank drawing, to access the sheet set manager, I can go to the View Tab on my ribbon, as you see here, come over to sheet set manager. I can also type out SSM at the keyboard for sheet set manager, and press Enter and that'll bring it up. I'm gonna close out of it. And the third way of doing it is by pressing the keyboard combination of Control + 4. And that will bring up the sheet set manager palette as well. So yes, I said it, sheet set manager pallet. So as you see here, this is a pallet just like all other pallets in AutoCAD. It has tabs, sheet list, sheet view, and model views. There is yet another way to access the sheet set manager, but we'll talk about that in a second. For now, let's go ahead and close out of the sheet set manager, and let's close out of this drawing. We're gonna say, no, we're not gonna save anything here. So this other method to access the sheet set manager is from the Start Tab, as we see here. We're going to create a new sheet set. So when I click the dropdown arrow here, and down here at the bottom where it says, create sheet set, let's go ahead and click this. So this is gonna start a Wizard, that it's going to allow me to build out my sheet set or my collection of drawings. And with this collection of drawings in AutoCAD I can do a multiple of things with them. We're gonna see all of that later on in this chapter. For now, we're going to create an example sheet set. Typically, the act of creating sheet sets is done by a CAD manager of your department or someone within your firm, but we're just running through this example so that you have a better understanding of what goes on with creating sheet sets. I'm gonna hit next here. And this is where we're going to select a example template for our sheet set. I'm gonna use it the default of Architectural Imperial Sheet Set. If you had one specifically that you wanted to browse to and use, you can check this option. I'm gonna go ahead and hit next here. Here is where we give our sheet to the name. I'm gonna call it my Custom Sheet Set. And you can provide a meaningful description here. If you'd like, I'm gonna leave it set with this description or it's gonna create a default sheet size of 24 by 36. Right here is the location, where the sheet set data file is gonna be created. The sheet set data file is a DST file format. Yours is gonna look similar but different. This is the folder path on my machine where AutoCAD defaults to creating them. I'm gonna leave it at this. Typically, this folder path that this DST file will be saved at will be on a network server. If this was your company, and you were doing it 'cause it wants to be accessible to everybody within your firm, who is going to be working on these drawings. But for this purpose of this lesson, we're gonna leave it at the default on my C drive. And I'm gonna check this box here for it to create a folder hierarchy based on the subsets. Look at the sheet set properties. And here is the sheet set properties for the sheet set that we are creating. I'm gonna leave all of this defaulted to the way it's coming in right now. If I want to adjust the name, I can adjust name here. The description, the label block reviews, the call out blocks, the page set up overrides. Where is that coming from? All of these can be adjusted here. I can give it a project number. I'm gonna give it 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. You can give it a name of project phase, a milestone even if you wanted to. Here's gonna be the creation of all sheets that I create for my sheet set. I'm gonna change this. I'm gonna click the dropdown button here. And I'm gonna change this location, on my machine to be my D drive. On your machine, you can make it your exercise files folder. I'm just gonna say open here. Next is the sheet creation template that's gonna be used for the creation of all sheets. Right now it's gonna use the arch D template and layout. And then here are any custom properties, that by default are being set up. You can edit those custom properties by clicking this button here, and either adding or deleting any of these custom properties that you see here. I'm gonna hit cancel here. And I'm done with the sheet set properties. So I'm gonna say, okay And I am done on this page. So let's click next. And here is where we get an overview of our custom sheet set that we're creating. You can preview all of this information as it is here. Once you're done, you just click finish. And we've just created our first sheet set. Thanks for watching this lesson. Join me in the next lesson, where we will take a look at adding views to sheets.
