Hazardous materials can be found in a lot of workplaces doing a lot of good things. They heat our facilities, help us to maintain our instruments, tools, and equipment, and play major roles in many manufacturing and industrial processes. But these hazmats can also create serious hazards for us, especially if they aren't handled safely. That's why OSHA established the hazard communication regulation known as the HazCom standard. It gives you the right to know about any potentially hazardous materials that can be encountered in your workplace, and ensures that you have the information you need to handle them safely. In this program, we'll discuss the requirements of the HazCom standard, the hazards that are associated with different types of hazmats, and what you can do to avoid those hazards.
