You will learn how to identify and avoid cleaning and maintenance hazards, understand the HAZCOM standard, recognize and avoid potentially hazardous materials, and know what to do if you are exposed to a hazardous material.
It is intended for people who may encounter hazardous materials during cleaning and maintenance processes and in broader workplace environments, and who need to understand their and their employer's responsibilities when hazardous materials are present.
The course covers sources of HAZMAT information, PPE and safe storage, responding to a spill, exposure to HAZMAT, and hazard categories including flammables, combustibles, and oxidizers; carcinogens and radioactive materials; and toxins, corrosives, and irritants.
It addresses skills including Hazard Communication (HazCom), the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), HAZWOPER, dangerous goods/hazmat transport, and hazardous materials handling at the technician level.
