In this Academic Culture and Institutional Climate course, you’ll explore how institutional culture shapes professional dignity and daily experience for faculty and staff. We’ll also examine structural barriers and belonging strategies that influence retention. These factors determine whether institutional values align with everyday practice. With this foundation in place, we’ll look more closely at how culture becomes visible across institutional systems.
We’ll examine academic culture and inclusion, presenting examples of governance dynamics and leadership response patterns. You’ll develop the ability to identify structural barriers and assess belonging drivers that affect retention. We’ll also explore communication standards and measurable indicators of cultural alignment to give you a complete understanding of academic culture and climate systems. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to evaluate culture patterns and climate signals across academic units.
