In this Elder Financial Abuse Awareness and Prevention course, you’ll learn how to identify and report elder financial exploitation in financial and public-service settings. We’ll also examine common fraud schemes and internal controls that support prevention and compliance. These practices protect older adults and reduce institutional risk. With this foundation in place, we’ll look more closely at detection and prevention measures that strengthen protection efforts.
We’ll explore exploitation detection and reporting controls, presenting examples of behavioral warning signs and transactional indicators that require escalation. You’ll build the ability to document concerns objectively, and you’ll learn how to apply reporting thresholds under regulatory standards. We’ll also address government impersonation scams, account misuse within trusted relationships, and ethical accountability frameworks to give you a complete understanding of elder financial abuse awareness and prevention. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to recognize behavioral and transactional warning signs and escalate concerns for a compliant response.
