Throughout the supply chain, it’s critical to understand how to optimize your processes and operations to drive efficiency in transportation, warehouse design, and within your distribution network. There are four primary methods of transportation in logistics, and each one has various uses depending on the given situation. Identifying the advantages of each one enables you to minimize cost, maximize efficiency, and move products quickly. Similar to transportation, warehouses are designed to create an intentional sequence of operations to prioritize efficiency, increase productivity, and keep costs to a minimum. You must consider the scope of business that runs there early in the process so the design is tailored to facilitate the specific product. There are a variety of distribution network designs that serve specific purposes to get products to customers. By getting to know these, you can continue to deliver optimal service to your customers.
In Supply Chain Logistics, you will learn about the various methods of transportation and how to choose which one to use. You’ll review how to manage warehouses and inventory including designing a warehouse and determining the quantity of inventory needed. You’ll also take a deep dive into various design options and how to choose each one for an optimal network.
