Hello, welcome to Knowledge City's course in Adobe Photoshop. My name is Jeff Dreilowitz and today I will be teaching you about sRGB and Adobe RGB color spaces. If we take a look at our color prism we have right here, you'll notice we have two triangles. This first one represents the sRGB color space, which is smaller, and the second one represents the Adobe RGB color space, which is larger. When you're manipulating an image, the color balance, highlights, shadows, and filtered effects to name a few, you want to have the most amount of data available. So if your image manipulation is going to be big, you want a bigger color space. That's the Adobe RGB. sRGB contains the smallest amount of colors, as well as less saturated colors, usually used on apps and browsers so as to display the colors properly. That being said, exporting an image to be used on the web should be in this sRGB color space. On the other hand, the Adobe RGB color space contains more colors and more saturation. It's geared more towards printing. If you want to view the options for our color spaces, what we're going to do is go up here to edit and work our way down to color settings. You can see that is shift command K for a keyboard shortcut. Once that opens up to our workspaces, you're going to see that I already have the sRGB one chosen. I set that up in my new document settings when I created this file, and I'm going to leave that as it is. Working our way down for color management policies, we'll see that all of these say preserve embedded profiles. What that means is that Photoshop will preserve the already embedded color profiles of any images you bring into the program for editing, whether it's a picture off of your camera, off of your phone, or off the internet. For the rest of the options that we have here, profile mismatches, missing profiles, conversion options, we're going to leave everything as is. These are the default settings. Unless you're doing something that is very specific or on an advanced level, we don't need to change any of them. Once we're happy with what you have, you can go back to your document by hitting OK. With that, we have covered what is necessary for an intro into color spaces. In the next lesson, we learn how to resize an image, the canvas, and how to crop a photo. Thank you for watching.
