In this Bloodborne Pathogens in Transportation and Warehouse Environments course, you'll learn how to recognize bloodborne pathogens and the diseases they cause. We'll also examine safe work practices, biohazard labeling, and accidental exposure procedures. These practices are critical for protecting yourself and your coworkers from serious infection. With these foundations in place, we'll look more closely at how OSHA's standard protects workers in transportation and warehouse settings.
We'll examine how bloodborne pathogens spread, detailing routes such as contaminated sharps and contact with infected blood. You'll develop the ability to apply standard precautions and handle regulated waste safely, and you'll strengthen your response to accidental exposures. We'll also cover the Hepatitis B vaccination program, exposure control plans, and post-exposure procedures to give you a complete understanding of workplace bloodborne pathogen safety. By the end of this course, you'll be able to reduce your exposure risk and respond correctly when an incident occurs.
Learning Objectives:
• Identify common bloodborne pathogens and their health risks
• Explain how bloodborne pathogens transmit in the workplace
• Apply standard precautions and safe work practices
• Recognize biohazard labels and regulated waste requirements
• Demonstrate the correct response to an accidental exposure
It is designed for workers in transportation and warehouse environments who want to protect themselves and their coworkers from bloodborne pathogen infection and understand how OSHA's standard protects workers in these settings.
It covers recognizing bloodborne pathogens and the diseases they cause (including HIV and hepatitis), how pathogens spread, standard precautions and safe work practices, biohazard labeling and regulated waste, the exposure control plan, the Hepatitis B vaccination program, and accidental exposure and post-exposure procedures.
The course builds skills in hazardous material handling, incident response, and disease prevention, including applying standard precautions, handling regulated waste safely, and responding correctly to accidental exposures.
By the end, you will be able to reduce your exposure risk and respond correctly when an incident occurs.
