In this Continuous Improvement in Manufacturing Quality Systems course, you’ll understand how data, metrics, and analysis support process improvement in manufacturing. We’ll also examine root cause investigation and corrective action to strengthen process stability and reduce recurring quality issues. To build that understanding, we’ll look more closely at how data analysis, improvement methods, and corrective actions work together in manufacturing systems.
We’ll break down continuous improvement in manufacturing, presenting examples of performance metrics and the PDCA cycle used to guide improvement efforts. You’ll develop the ability to analyze production data and identify sources of variation. We’ll also explore root cause investigation; corrective action processes; and operational excellence practices to give you a complete understanding of manufacturing quality improvement. By the end of this course, you’ll apply improvement methods to support reliable production and consistent product quality.
Learning Objectives:
• Understand how quality data supports process performance evaluation
• Explain how metrics indicate production stability and variation
• Analyze data to identify trends and recurring issues
• Apply root cause investigation to resolve nonconformities
• Evaluate improvement methods to maintain process stability
The course covers how data, metrics, and analysis support process improvement in manufacturing, including quality metrics and data analysis, manufacturing process improvement, root cause investigation and corrective action, and operational excellence practices. It also presents examples of performance metrics and the PDCA cycle used to guide improvement efforts.
You will build skills in data analysis, process improvement, and root cause analysis — including the ability to analyze production data, identify sources of variation, and apply improvement methods that support reliable production and consistent product quality.
The course includes lessons on Quality Metrics and Data Analysis, Manufacturing Process Improvement, Root Cause and Corrective Action, and Operational Excellence and Quality, along with an introduction and 'Test Your Knowledge' checks after key lessons.
By the end of the course, you will be able to apply improvement methods to support reliable production and consistent product quality, including using root cause investigation to resolve nonconformities and evaluating improvement methods to maintain process stability.
