Hello, my name is Jeff Drylowitz and I'll be teaching you how to access Photoshop's animation tools and more specifically the difference between frame and video animations To start off with I've got this simple ball Which is separate from the background because if the ball is in the same layer as the background They are going to animate together, which you don't want so I want the ball to be moving independently from the background So to access my animation tools. I'm going up to a window and coming down to timeline With that open I'm going to choose video timeline. I have the option between video or frame this one I want video And I'm going to click on that I could just move this ball all I wanted to if I opened up my layers here and I've got position as you can see anything that is in my Layers will show up down here in the layers for the timeline in less it's locked So if I unlock it now, it will show up there as well if I had more of a background going on here But if I want to warp the shape of this ball or anything I need to make sure That it is a smart object. So I have to go to smart objects and convert to smart object So let's keep this simple here. I'm gonna expand it. I've got transform That's where I want to start and putting a keyframe. So when I click on this little clock It gives me a keyframe. So I want this ball to it's gonna drop down to the ground Let's move, you know out a couple frames and I'm just gonna click I'm gonna hold shift and drag down there we go I got it's where I wanted to go But then very soon after right because right now we can see it moving It's dropping down, but I want the ball to look at squishing a little bit as it impacts So I'm gonna come out to another keyframe here But this time I'm doing command T. I'm gonna hold shift and Squish it down Hit return and then I'm just coming out a little further another keyframe and This is where I make the ball Come back to its proper size So actually I'm gonna type that in up here. So I'm gonna do or copy and paste We can watch it move and I scrub through it comes hits the ground and squishes Great. So now I want to move this further along in the animation. I'm gonna come out You know, I'm going with 510 around that. So I'm gonna drag this one up To the center top here All right, now we can see you know, it squishes it moves up I'm gonna continue that idea of it squishing. Let me just fix that background there Yeah, so for this one again, I'm gonna move out just a frame Hit command T hold shift and squish it to the top and return Come out another frame and then command T and then bring it back down to the proper size proper proportion If I scrub back we can see It's going across. It's bouncing. It's squishing. It's moving up bouncing and squishing And then let's bring ourselves down to And about another five or so frames out I'm gonna move it down here into the corner and so now if I play the whole thing back It's the ground comes up hits the ceiling comes up and it lands now What I can do here is I can stop it and if I want this to be a shorter animation I can just grab the edge of my timeline and drag it to the final keyframe there. Here we go. We'll go back and set it up Yeah, so it's gonna continue looping and just bouncing here now, obviously the further I pull these keyframes apart The slower it will go the closer I bring the keyframes a faster. So I can't hold shift and Click on multiple frames at once and move them over But this is going to speed it up Obviously going to the end. That's where it wraps up as you can see how it does speed up as we move along there and once I'm happy with my animation I Can come down here. Oops. Let me stop it and Choose the render button No, no, sorry, that would be moving to keyframe. Sorry wrong button render is right here And I would name it choose the folder. I wanted to go to Adobe media encoder what is what it's going to be go to by default? This is default format and presets are based on whatever you're planning on putting this on So you can just keep it a generic high quality medium low whatever it might be Now we're moving on to frame animation. So now I've got this character I made well, why don't make it look like they are jumping and this is being done more like traditional animation So again, we've got the options down here between video and frame. We're going to go with frame and click on that So now we can see my timeline down here and it'll be each individual frame working its way across So I've got my person. I've got the ground here and it's just the person who's going to be changed in each new layer Okay, so we've got my first one here. I'm going to hit command J All right, now what I want to do with this one is I'm going to turn the first one off I've got the second one here, and I'm going to do a puppet warp. So I'm going to go to edit and Choose puppet warp. So now what I can do is I'm going to bring the person's Body up actually let me take that one off. I'm going to raise the legs up the knees The body a little bit. So the body is coming up The legs are straightening a little bit And make feet hinge and push down towards the ground I'll put pins in the shoulders as well so that I can move like the arms are going to kind of move up in Relation to what's happening. I hit return when I'm done great. So now what I can do with this new one Okay, so I've got the first one You can see it's in the corresponding frame right there now for the next one. What I want to do is hit the plus button and Change it. All right, so we've got our first frame our second frame. All right hit and command J again I'm going to turn this off and now for the new one again edit Gonna go down to puppet warp And I want to continue the trajectory of the body moving upwards here. So again, I'm pinning those shoulders Bring the arms up a little bit more And those pins in the knees and in the feet and ankles So I can stretch the knees or me. Sorry straighten the knees out a little bit Lengthen the feet a bit more going down here Maybe even move the body up or actually now I'm gonna leave that for now hit return. I can also Have the body move up a tiny bit All right, and so for this one again, that's when I make my new frame I actually have to go back to frame two so you have to make sure That you have the frame you want in place All right, and I come over to frame three. So yeah, we are now looking at one two and three Number one. I need to have it off on right. So we got one You've got two and then coming back over to three. I just want to make sure that is turned on All right, so we got one two and three so a little bit of movement each time So I'm not going to continue going a whole lot further with this, but you can see when I hit play You get the mo you know the motion there and what I can do in between these also is change whether I'm going to loop it three Times once or forever. I can also add tweens between them, right? So if I choose my first frame and my second holding shift and select them both I can add in maybe let's just say we want to add in two frames in between And then from the second to the third Hit tween and add two in between. So now when I play it They show some of the extra frames that happen in between them Now this is the same thing when it comes to rendering I could always go up to file Export and Then choose render video which will give me all the same options that I would have with the video Animation as well. All right, so I would hit render and then I would be able to open that up later So yeah, so you can see the difference here because with this one Obviously each one has to have its own you know We're gonna onion skin kind of look here with its own frame of how it is moving very distinctly from the frame before it So this concludes our lesson animating with both the video and frame timelines come back for our next lesson Well, we'll learn how to create text animations. Thanks for watching
