In this Dropped Object Prevention in Multi-Level Derrick and Turbine Operations course, you’ll understand how dropped-object hazards develop and how to control them during elevated work. We’ll also examine common sources of falling objects and the risks they create for workers and equipment. This helps you recognize hazards early and manage them before they lead to incidents. To support this, we’ll move from understanding hazard sources to applying practical control measures and safe work practices.
We’ll break down dropped-object prevention methods, demonstrating tool tethering techniques and secure handling practices. You’ll build the ability to manage tools and materials at height and maintain control during movement and task execution. We’ll also explore derrick work hazards, turbine maintenance risks, and environmental conditions that increase the risk of drops to give you a complete understanding of dropped-object prevention in multi-level operations. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to identify and control dropped-object hazards across multi-level workspaces.
Learning Objectives:
• Identify common sources of dropped-object hazards in elevated work
• Explain how falling objects create injury and operational risks
• Recognize environmental and workspace factors that increase drop risk
• Apply methods to secure tools and materials at height
• Demonstrate safe handling and communication during overhead work
It is designed for people who work at height in multi-level derrick and turbine operations and need to prevent dropped-object incidents, covering workers involved in elevated work, derrick work, and turbine maintenance.
It covers sources of dropped objects in elevated work, injury risks from falling tools and hardware, derrick work and turbine maintenance hazards, environmental conditions that increase drop risk, tool tethering methods, securing and handling tools at height, inspecting for dropped-object hazards, communicating during overhead work, and prohibited items at height.
You will build skills in fall prevention, hazard identification, and tool management, including the ability to manage tools and materials at height and maintain control during movement and task execution.
The course is delivered as a series of lessons moving from hazard sources to practical control measures, with several Test Your Knowledge checkpoints along the way.
By the end, you will be able to identify and control dropped-object hazards across multi-level workspaces.
