If you work for a company that uses Office 365 for collaboration, or maybe you attend a school that uses Office 365, then you have access to Microsoft Teams. Unfortunately, if you just have a consumer account with a live.com or a Gmail address, you're not going to have access to Microsoft Teams. If you do have access, you'll want to download it to your computer for the first time. All you'll need to do is go to the web and you're going to go to portal.office.com. Here, go ahead to either type in or choose your Microsoft Office username, and then put in your password. Then, you'll want to sign in. If you want to stay signed in, go ahead and tell it yes here so that it reduces the number of times you're asked to sign in, and we'll go ahead and do that. And now you'll see you're in Microsoft Office. If you want to access Teams, all you have to do is click right here on Teams. When you first opened Microsoft Teams, you're going to be on the Teams pivot, which shows you all of the teams that you currently have set up. If you'd like to work in one of these teams, you just click on that team. And this is where the real rich functionality of Microsoft Teams actually lives. Microsoft Teams has a web app and they also have a desktop app. I am currently using the web app. I accessed it via the web. If you look down at the bottom left hand side of your screen, you'll see a button that says download the desktop app. And that's where you would go if you have a laptop or a desktop, and you'd like to have an icon on your desktop, that you can click on to open up Microsoft Teams. And that's really the better one of the two. But the reason they have the web app is because sometimes you might not have access to that laptop or desktop. Maybe you're on your phone or on an iPad, and you have some quick work you want to get done, you'll be able to log in via the web app and get some of that work done. There are some features not available in the web app that are very good features you would want to use in the desktop app. Okay, awesome. Now that you know how to get Microsoft Teams, you know how to set it up, and you know how to log in, I want you to be able to get to work, but before you can do that, we have to go over the screen itself and get you familiar with Microsoft Teams. Why don't you head over to the next video and we will look at a Microsoft Teams overview. (soft electronic music)
