There are three different types of discrimination recognized under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA): Overt discrimination, disparate treatment, and disparate impact. It is illegal for creditors to discriminate against people in any of these ways at any point in the lending process. In this course, you will learn about the differences between these types of discrimination and how to recognize them in action. You will also learn about what does and does not qualify as discrimination and who must comply with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
