Hello, my name is Dimitria Crawford. In this lesson, we will review AWS Consolidated billing. To get started, let's go to our billing dashboard. If you'll type in billing in the search area and then click on billing to open up our billing dashboard. On the left hand side at the bottom you'll find consolidated billing. We can use consolidated billing to consolidate billing and account payments for multiple AWS accounts. To do this, we have to send out invitations to other accounts to consolidate with the master account. The benefits of consolidated billing includes the ability to have one bill for multiple accounts, you can track the charges across multiple accounts and view the combined cost and data usage. You can combine the usage across all accounts in the organization to receive volume discount pricing. So for example let's say we may want to have an account that's strictly for our marketing department and an account for our IT department. Even though we are still operating within the same company we just have separate a AWS accounts for these two departments. If you'll notice, under consolidated billing we have our AWS accounts. There's the root account, and there's, here's the management account. This is the master account. Any additional accounts that are added, once they accept the invitation, they're listed as child accounts. So in order to join an organization, you have to accept the invitation. So first, let's walk through the steps to actually send an invitation. If you click on add an AWS account, the orange button, you can create an AWS account from here or you can invite an existing account. So if you know the name of the existing account so let's first click the button here. You can send a verification email, and this will go to the email address that is listed for that account. You can create an AWS account, give in an account name, the email address you would like to have for the account owner, what role it will have and if you would like to have any tags associated with that account and simply click the create AWS account. Now, once you send out those invitations, the account will not add to your AWS organizations that you have listed under your consolidated billing until it's accepted. So let's go back. So under invitations, if I have any invitations that have been sent to this account that I am logged into, I would be able to see those invitations here under the invitations button. Other things that I could do include creating organizational groups which we will talk a little bit later in the next lesson. I can actually apply various restrictions to account using service control policies, SCPs, which we will also go over. But for now, this is how we create consolidated billing.
