Hello, in today's lesson, we will examine using master clip effects on video clips in Premiere Pro. For this example, I've selected three clips of a musical performer to create a picture in picture animation. Each clip is on a separate video layer in the sequence here, against a gradient background created in Premiere Pro using the color matte from the new item menu. And then adding a four way gradient and tint effect. I've also added a type layer that animates into the scene as you can see there. Under the effects control panel every video clip has motion, opacity and time remapping by default. Twirling down motion reveal several parameters that can be animated using key frames. And in fact, on this particular clip, come fly to multimedia, some key frames have already been created for position. The very top clip Anthony's multi has key frames for position, scale and rotation. These were created by enabling the stopwatch icon, which turns blue. Changing any parameter will create a key frame. So if I were to change something right here, for example, scale, the key frame gets created. I'll undo that for the moment. The usual procedures to establish a start key frame at the point you wish it to begin in the clip, then move to your end point and make a second key frame, by changing the values of the key frame parameter. So here's the beginning. If I go to the next scale key frame, by clicking this button, you can see that the scale changes from zero to 39%. Likewise, for rotation there is zero rotation there and minus 180 there, and Premiere Pro will interpolate in between those two. So you see it spinning in on the right there. All of these frames have this vertical bow tie shape with the exception of a single key frame established for a position at the very far right, you can just barely see it here it's a diamond shape. This diamond shape key frame indicates a linear interpolation, which starts and stops abruptly. The bow tie shape key frames have a continuous Bezier interpolation, which I can access by right clicking and pulling down on it. This smooth the motion by making the transition from key frame to key frame in a more gradual fashion. The space in between key frames also establishes the rate of speed at which this transition occurs. So the greater the distance between the key frames, the slower the transition. So if I move this one out here further is going to take longer for that clip to reach full size. The second layer clip come fly to multi has key frames for both position and scale as you can see here. These are also continuous Bezier key frames. The last two position key frames are adjacent to each other with small changes in values, which creates sort of a pop-up effect. So I'll play this through. So at the very end there is a little bit of a bounce in it from the intermediate key frame right next to the end key frame. The clip in layer V3, which is actually appears first in the scene, as you can see there. Linear position key frames placed only 10 frames apart with the first key frame positioning and clip off screen creates this rapid slider. So there you can see the very first position is actually off screen. Lastly, the type layer has two adjacent key frames at 11:12 and 12 seconds in the time code here. So I'll me put that there, this falls under the vector motion and there are linear key frames as you can see here. The type layer is a vector layer. So these are animated to correspond to the tilt of the performer's head there to make it appear as if his head is knocking the type out of frame. So I'll play that through here, get that sensation so that abruptness of the linear key frame makes it animated in that fashion. An additional dissolve transition was added here the additive dissolve with a duration of one second was added to fade up the type. So type fades up as you can see there. So in this lesson, you've learned how to use master clip effects in Premiere Pro to animate video clips.
