The Intermediate JavaScript course, taught by instructor Joseph Barrett, builds on a viewer's knowledge of the basics starting with an in-depth dive into JavaScript types: How to recognize and use undefined and null variables, and finding character patterns in strings using a variety of methods including regular expressions.
The course will discuss object-oriented JavaScript, from some guiding principles on how to design a class, declaring properties, building an inheritance framework, and the role of JavaScript modules. We’ll also look at using JavaScript to create new elements in a web page’s Document Object Model, and how to use the CSS Flexbox. Finally ending with an overview of a variety of useful HMTL 5 APIs, including geolocation, drawing with SVG or the Canvas API, using the Storage API to keep information on the client browser, and employing WebWorkers to run multi-threaded JavaScript.
