Data is everywhere these days and data-driven decision making is intertwined with every aspect of business as well. However, there is a fairly steep barrier to entry when learning the proper skills, concepts, and tools associated with reporting and analyzing data. The best way to report and analyze data is with the programming language known as SQL (Structured Query Language).
Learning SQL is quite similar to learning a new language in that you need to know the structure and how to articulate what you are trying to say before you can be understood. In this course, you will be guided through each of the necessary skills to be able to report and analyze data using SQL. Getting a properly configured environment is often a barrier to entry for those attempting to learn SQL. This course takes a gradual pace to introduce the key concepts and real tools you can use in your current or prospective position. Once you obtain the skills included in this course, you can analyze any data table that comes your way.
You will be guided through the skills needed to report and analyze data using SQL, including installing and configuring a SQL environment, identifying SQL data types, reporting on data tables, creating and reading data tables, and incorporating data table joins.
Yes. The course covers installing the proper software, troubleshooting, and connecting to a reporting environment, since getting a properly configured environment is often a barrier to entry when learning SQL.
It covers string, numeric, and date/time data types, SQL syntax, aggregate functions, building views/reports, creating, reading, and analyzing data tables, and join fundamentals including inner joins and outer joins.
The course builds skills in analytics, data analysis, database analysis, database programming, SQL (programming language), and SQL plan management.
The course describes SQL as the best way to report and analyze data, noting that data-driven decision making is intertwined with every aspect of business.
