Hey there, welcome to QuickBooks Online. My name is Cindy and we are going to talk about working with the customer list in this video. You have products and services that you sell. The people or businesses that buy those products or services are considered customers. And you'll want to track each of your customers in the customer list. To get to the customer list, head over to the navigation pane on the left, point to sales, and then you'll see customers on the dropdown list. This is a list of all of your customers in alphabetical order. Some of these may look like they have customers indented underneath. These are actually called sub-customers or jobs for the main customer. If you see an envelope to the right, that means you set up an email address. And if you'd like to email that customer, you can click right on the little envelope and it will take you straight to your email so that you can send that email out. You can see there's a phone number for each customer. And also, if a customer has an open balance, you will see that amount right here. This open balance could be a combination of one or more different invoices that you've sent out to your customer. On the right is a column that says action. If you have a customer with an open balance, then you can receive a payment from them right from here. But you also have other options under the dropdown. You can see options like would you like to create a statement for this customer, create an invoice, or possibly a sales receipt or an estimate. At the top of the list, you're going to see what we call batch actions. If you have one or more customers selected and you click the down arrow, you can actually create statements for all of the ones that you have selected at one time. You might email them all, make them inactive, or if you want to select different types of customers, you could do that. Here you can search for a particular customer if you're looking for one. Once you've searched for that customer, it's going to take you to that customer's record and you can see all of the payments. You can see any invoices, all of the history having to do with this particular customer. You can see due dates for things, balances, the status of the transaction, and also you might have some actions over and the right you can take related to that particular transaction. If you want to go back, all you have to do is go over to the left here and click this little arrow, and that way you'll see all of your customers again. You might want to look at a different customer's history. You can come down and click on that different customer. You can go all the way back to the customers by clicking customers at the top here, and now you're back in this list. If you notice over on the right, right above action, you can actually print this list if you'd like. You can actually export this list to Excel, and you also have a few options where you see the gear here. These are options to show additional columns that you may not see currently. For example, if you'd like to see the customer's email address, just choose that option. If you'd like to see their address, you can choose that option, and now you'll see this column show up when you're looking at your customer list. You also have the ability to show 150 rows currently. If you want to see more, you can just choose that option from the list. The last thing I want to mention is at the very top of your list, you can see an overview of your customer list as a whole. If you want to see the total amount that you have in outstanding estimates, you would see that right here. You might have customers that have some activity related to that customer that haven't been billed yet. Those are called Unbuild. You can see how many customers have overdue invoices, how many have open invoices, and then you can see how many were paid in the last 30 days. And that's a quick overview of your customer list. If you wanted to create a new customer, you can click right here to create that new customer. And that gives you a quick overview of your customer list.
