Q. What is KnowledgeCity?

A. KnowledgeCity.com is an educational website. We offer hundreds of online video tutorials in computer software and business skills.

Q. What are the system's requirements for my computer to view the courses?

    A.
  • Internet Explorer 7.0 or above, Firefox 3.0 or above, or Safari 4.1.2 (latest version for Mac 10.4.11 users) or above. (Users of 64-bit Internet Explorer 7, please try a different browser)
  • Basic computer speakers or headphones.
  • Microsoft Windows XP SP3, Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows 7, Macintosh OSX 10.4.11 or Linux.
  • The most current version of Adobe Flash Player. Download the Flash Player here.
  • Internet connection with sufficient bandwidth. Most of our videos will download best with a downstream bandwidth of at least 500Kbps or higher for smoothest playback. You can test your downstream bandwidth at www.speedtest.net. Once there, click on the yellow pyramid on the map (if none of the pyramids are yellow, select one that is closest to your geographic location). This will initiate a speed test. Once complete, your downstream bandwidth is displayed in the "Download" box near the top of your screen.
  • To ensure smooth viewing, wait until the video is fully loaded, which is indicated by the progress bar at the bottom of the video player. When the video first opens, click the pause button until the gray bar completely goes to the right side of the screen, then press play.

Once you have successfully downloaded the most current version of Adobe Flash Player, close all browser windows and re-open the website.

Q. Why can't I hear the course?

A. There are several possible reasons why you can't hear sound on the video. Check to make sure that you have a sound card installed on your computer. Make sure that the sound on your computer is turned on. Also, ensure that your speakers or headphones are connected to your computer and are turned on.

Q. Why is the video/audio skipping?

A. A high-speed Internet connection is required for optimal viewing of our training videos. For optimal viewing, the Internet speed should be at 500kbps. If you are viewing the video with a slower Internet connection (56k), you may have to wait a few minutes for the video to load.

Q. When I open the video, all I see is a black screen. Why?

A. Depending on the speed of your Internet connection, you may have to wait a few moments for the video to load. If there is a circle with rotating bars in the middle of the video screen, the video is loading and will begin to play shortly. However, if there is no circle in the middle of the video screen, or if an error message appears, please close the video player and click on the lesson again. The video should then load and play properly.
